It is important to me that this expansion fits well aesthetically and is mechanically safe and durable—so not a temporary DIY fix but a well-thought-out addition. There are no official extension modules for BRIMNES directly from Ikea. However, with simple methods, you can place additional drawers next to the existing piece of furniture and ideally match the appearance. Attaching them to the original frame is not planned.

Basically, the BRIMNES system is not designed to be modular in terms of later expansions. The drawers are part of a fixed, defined carcass. If you want to add more drawers, I recommend adding a second BRIMNES unit and visually connecting both with a decorative panel or a custom cover solution. Super interesting question! I have a BRIMNES set myself and wanted to add a third drawer. The plan was to extend the bottom panel and widen it on the side. Unfortunately, the side holes didn’t line up. But with some additional angle brackets from the hardware store, it worked out! So, with a bit of creativity, it definitely can be done! Just don’t give up too quickly! 😊

That sounds like quite a challenging task. Did you have any issues with stability or the drawer runners? I imagine it requires very precise work; otherwise, it could become uncomfortably wobbly.
