Hello everyone,
I am planning to equip my kitchen with IKEA METOD cabinets and would like to showcase the glass fronts in an appealing way. I am particularly interested in how to combine and arrange the glass fronts so that they are not only functional but also create an elegant and open impression without overcrowding the space.
Are there any proven design concepts or tips regarding the choice of frame colors, lighting, division of glass panels, or interior organization that I should keep in mind?
I am also curious about the effects that can be achieved by playing with transparent and opaque glass fronts and how this influences the overall feel of the room.
I look forward to concrete advice or personal experiences, including any pointers on what to pay attention to during installation to achieve this result.

I think a subtle Boho or Scandinavian touch can work really well, for example by combining some colorful elements or wooden accents alongside glass fronts.
A tip: Use warm lighting to make the glass surfaces feel much cozier. For instance, I placed LED strips behind the glass frames of my METOD units – it looks like a magical glow. 😎
Additionally, a few attractive, but not too many, items behind the glass fronts create an interesting sense of depth and prevent the sterile "kitchen cabinet imitation" feeling.

Basically, mixing different types of glass is possible, but it only makes sense if there is a clear visual concept. Otherwise, it results in visual disharmony.
Personally, I find a critical discussion about the lighting missing here – how exactly do you integrate LED strips into METOD cabinet modules without hiding them visibly or creating cable clutter?

Personally, I feel there is a lack of critical discussion about lighting here – specifically, how to integrate LED strips into METOD cabinet modules without leaving them visible or creating cable clutter. Here is my tip: IKEA offers special LED lighting designed specifically for METOD cabinets, perfectly matching the cabinet dimensions and allowing for almost invisible installation.
Installation instructions:
- LED strips are usually mounted under the top inner frame
- Cables can be routed through designated channels
- Power supplies should be placed outside the cabinet, for example in the baseboard area
This avoids cable clutter and keeps the lighting discreet while remaining effective.
