kufi57Hello everyone, I’m planning to set up an Ikea Platsa system and I’m looking for suitable software that can help with planning and visualization. Ideally, it should allow flexible configuration of different modules and dimensions to make the most of the available space. Which programs or apps would you recommend that specifically support the setup of Ikea PLATSA furniture? It’s important that they are user-friendly and provide a realistic representation of the final result. Thanks in advance for your tips!

Personally, I find Ikea’s own planner app quite convenient for PLATSA – it’s not the top design tool out there, but it’s perfectly fine for getting started. It lets you measure rooms accurately and customize the modules individually. If you want something a bit more polished, I’d suggest trying Roomstyler. It’s not 100% focused on PLATSA, but it works well for visualizing with 3D models. In the end, it really depends on whether you prefer quick planning or detailed customization – feel free to try both and see which suits you better.

It should ideally allow flexible configuration of different modules and dimensionsThis is an important point! In my experience, the Ikea PLATSA planner app is currently the best option because it is specifically designed for the system and therefore covers all modules. Additionally, you can create rooms in 3D, and the planner automatically saves your designs, which is very helpful when making multiple adjustments.
Another advantage: the app provides a detailed shopping list at the end, which you can take with you to the Ikea store. However, if you want a more advanced visualization, you could also use SketchUp – there are free PLATSA models created by the community available. Just be prepared to spend some time learning how to use it. If you like, I can send you a few links for that.

SketchUp is really great once you get the hang of it. The flexibility in 3D visualization is just excellent, and you can add some really nice details. Bonus: You can rotate and zoom everything however you like – it gives you a really good feel before spending money on furniture. Sure, it takes some time, but the effort is definitely worth it!
I just planned my PLATSA project with SketchUp myself and I’m super happy with the result 😊!
