Pin65Hello everyone, I am planning to move several times in the near future and am wondering if the IKEA Brimnes furniture is sturdy enough for frequent moves. Since the furniture is often made from particleboard and relatively simple joints, I’m curious how well it holds up to repeated assembly and disassembly. Does anyone have experience with how durable Brimnes dressers or beds are when taken apart, transported, and rebuilt multiple times? I would appreciate if you could share your opinions or tips, especially if there are any weak points that tend to wear out quickly when the furniture is moved often.

JAMESONB4112 Apr 2021 09:45The furniture is sturdy enough for regular use, but frequent assembly and disassembly mainly affects the material around the screw connections. Therefore, it is generally more suitable for fixed installations.
Hello Pin65, I understand your question well and would like to offer a brief assessment with some tips.
First: The Brimnes series often uses fiberboard with a foil coating. This makes it lightweight and affordable, but the joints—especially dowels and screws—tend to weaken with frequent assembly and disassembly.
Tips:
- When assembling, always use lightweight hand tools instead of cordless screwdrivers to protect the material.
- Mark the screw positions so you can accurately identify the original holes during reassembly.
- Avoid over-tightening screws, as this often damages the material at the connection points.
- For dressers, the drawer mounts are often the weakest points.
In summary: The furniture is suitable for occasional moves, but with frequent relocations, the joints will quickly become weaker.
