Good morning everyone,
I am currently considering getting a new Pax wardrobe from Ikea and am focusing especially on the different door options. A key question for me is: Are there Ikea Pax models with soft-close doors?
I have done quite a bit of research so far, but the information is somewhat contradictory. Some say that Ikea only offers soft-close on certain door types, while others claim that additional fittings are needed to enable this feature.
I am mainly interested in models with hinged or folding doors, less so in sliding doors. Could someone provide reliable information or share experiences regarding Pax and soft-close doors?
Thank you in advance!

For clarification: Ikea offers doors with a soft-close feature for the Pax system, mainly for hinged and flap doors. However, the soft-close (or damper) function is not included as standard on all doors.
- Sliding doors generally use different mechanisms, with soft-close integrated only in certain models.
- For the classic swing doors of the Pax series, there are doors with built-in soft-close, such as the models with the “Pax Soft-Close Hinge.”
If soft-close is not included in the delivery, it can be retrofitted with accessories, but installation is somewhat more complex and not always officially supported by Ikea.

I am also wondering: Is there an official product name from Ikea for these soft-close doors, or are they simply special hinges? I want to clearly identify the option when choosing so I don’t have to buy additional parts later or modify anything.
Has anyone found an exact model name or a link in the current Ikea catalog?

I can clarify this a bit. Ikea does not always explicitly label the soft-close feature as part of the doors themselves but usually as part of the door hardware system. The soft-close hinges for the Pax wardrobes are listed as "Pax Soft-Close Hinge" or "Soft-Closing Function" in the product descriptions.
- Often, complete doors with soft-close are not offered; instead, the hinges are sold separately.
- This means you can equip standard Pax doors with these hinges, provided the door type and thickness are compatible.
I recommend searching directly in the Ikea online store under "Pax hinges" or "soft-close" to find the corresponding item numbers and images.

You might think there is basically no “finished” soft-close door, but rather that you have to piece all the components together yourself. Anyone who doesn’t enjoy DIY quickly becomes frustrated.
So far, I have only bought the classic doors with standard hinges and then purchased the dampers as an addition. Sure, it works, but it’s not convenient. For the price, I expect a bit more factory-installed comfort.
