Hello everyone, some time ago I purchased an Ikea Pax wardrobe and plan to use it for as long as possible. I am particularly interested in whether there are spare parts for this series that typically wear out or become defective more often and therefore need to be replaced regularly. I am mainly thinking of fittings, hinges, drawer runners, or connecting parts. Does anyone have practical experience or can share which spare parts are most commonly replaced for Ikea Pax wardrobes, perhaps also depending on usage? I want to be prepared for potential repairs and keep specific spare parts on hand. Thanks in advance for all information and experiences!

At Ikea itself, only the standard replacement parts that fit exactly with the Pax system are available. There are some third-party suppliers, but I would always choose the original parts because they offer the best fit and durability.

Original parts are always recommended, as third-party accessories often do not fit perfectly. If you use it regularly, I would especially pay attention to the drawer slides.

If I may add something to your concern: A good maintenance approach is to check the hinges and sliding rails every 6-12 months and oil or clean them as needed. This helps prevent excessive wear and the need for early replacement.

A quick tip for removing the sliding rails:
- Fully pull out the drawers
- Release the locks on the rails (usually small clips or screws)
- Carefully pull out the sliding rails

When installing replacement parts, be sure to ensure a proper fit and avoid using excessive force – this will extend their service life.

If you like, feel free to share the exact model you have, and I can provide general guidance on replacement part numbers (just a general note, I have the numbers in mind).

Exactly, and especially with Ikea Pax, you will notice that original parts usually maintain their fit even across several production years, which makes replacing spare parts very straightforward.

I would add that it’s also helpful to have the assembly instructions and the datasheet for individual components on hand if you plan to replace many parts. This allows for targeted ordering and helps avoid purchasing mistakes.

One point that has been mentioned less often so far: the handles themselves can also get damaged or wear out, particularly if they are made of plastic. Although they are rarely replaced, if needed, they can also be reordered quickly.

Hey, I really love my Pax too! 😊 I’ve already replaced a few spare parts, especially the hinges were the first ones to go on ours. With a bit of patience, it’s quite easy and gives you real peace of mind. It lasts much longer if you take action early and don’t wait until it sticks! Good luck maintaining your wardrobe!
