Hello everyone, I noticed that the drawers in my KALLAX shelving unit don’t fit properly – they seem crooked and don’t open and close smoothly. I assembled it following the instructions exactly and didn’t skip any steps. So I’m wondering: what could cause KALLAX drawers to sit unevenly? Could it be due to the assembly, manufacturing defects, or the adjustment of the drawer slides? Maybe someone here has had a similar issue and can offer advice on how to fix it. Thanks in advance!

Sometimes the drawer just doesn’t slide in properly, and then it looks crooked. That’s a good point. The KALLAX drawers can easily be inserted crookedly if the runners are not properly engaged. Many people forget to slide the runner over the guide pin, which results in insufficient support.
Additionally, if the shelf board sags, the entire structure can tilt slightly, affecting the drawers. In this case, placing shims under the legs or leveling the shelving unit helps.
Hello, I had the same problem before, and it was because the floor in the room was not completely level. I simply placed small felt pads under the shelf to make it stand straight, and since then the drawers fit perfectly! The KALLAX is sturdy, but even slight unevenness can affect its alignment. 🙂 So, check if the shelf is really standing completely level!

Additional note: If the back panel is not completely flush or has warped due to moisture, this can also cause distortion. In that case, the edges of the drawer runners will no longer be at right angles. I would therefore also be interested to know whether the back panel was installed correctly and without any tilt.

Yesterday, I checked all the screws on the drawer slides again and made slight adjustments, but the fit of the bottom drawer is still not perfect. So, back to it. Thanks to all of you, very helpful!
If the drawers are misaligned, a small adjustment by gently aligning the metal slides with a screwdriver often helps. Tightening the screws on the opposite side can also be effective. Sometimes it is just a slight tilting that causes the annoying misalignment. Check this with a spirit level on the drawer front.
