I am currently working on organizing my hobby room better and am using the Ikea Besta system for this. I am wondering: how can Ikea BESTA be optimized specifically for use in a hobby room? I am mainly looking for practical solutions that maximize storage space, improve functionality, and make handling easier when storing tools, craft supplies, or model-building materials. Are there any clever modifications, additions, or accessories that have proven effective? I would appreciate structured tips and suggestions tailored specifically for use in a hobby room.

The biggest advantage of BESTA is its modular design. For the hobby room, I recommend:
- Using drawer inserts and dividers to create clear organization.
- Utilizing surfaces for magnetic strips to keep tools easily accessible.
- Attaching hooks or holders to the inside of the doors for small parts.
- Installing LED lighting inside the compartments to improve visibility.
Clear zoning is essential, so for example, equip different modules according to work areas with specific functions.

Mounting hooks on the inside of doors for small items.

Absolutely brilliant! I used this solution myself and it saves a huge amount of space. 😊
I would also recommend using transparent boxes that can be labeled—this way, you never lose track of paint, screws, or similar items. A hobby room should remain a creative space, so it can be colorful and playful rather than just purely functional.

Best addition: Attach casters to the bottom of the BESTA units to make them mobile. Also, integrate power strips inside so that everything can easily be connected to electricity.

Drawers with dividers are invaluable. Mounted hook rails on the outside also help keep frequently used tools organized.

That sounds practical. Do you usually prefer these boxes with or without lids? And do you have any recommendations on the best sizes to fit into BESTA shelves without wasting space? My craft materials are often loose and come in various sizes, which makes organizing difficult.
