Hello everyone,
I have an IKEA Brimnes piece of furniture (specifically a chest of drawers), and unfortunately the legs have become wobbly over time. I have already checked that all screws are properly tightened, but that does not seem to be the only cause. The legs sometimes wobble slightly on the floor, which affects the stability. I am especially interested in how to professionally and permanently fix this issue.
Are there any tips for tightening, reinforcing, or replacing certain parts? I want to avoid the stability being compromised completely or the furniture getting damaged when moving it next time. Advice on suitable tools or special fasteners is also welcome.
Thanks in advance for your experiences and solutions!

Hello Lumi61,
I would first completely loosen all screws and connection parts, then realign the legs and tighten everything again. Often, small adjustments are enough.
If the original screws are worn out, you can replace them with slightly stronger screws. Rubber pads under the legs also help stabilize the structure on uneven floors.

Hello Lumi61,
wobbly legs on IKEA Brimnes furniture can have several causes. Often, it is due to the connection between the leg and the furniture body, as the screws may loosen over time or the mounting hole may become worn.
I recommend the following steps:
- Completely loosen the screws and check whether the threads on the screws or inside the holes are damaged.
- If the holes are worn out, you can apply wood glue or wood filler, let everything dry, and then screw it back in.
- Alternatively, if available, you can use furniture or dowel nuts to create a firmer connection.
- Check the floor: often, the wobbling is caused by an uneven surface. Felt pads or non-slip pads can help in this case.
It is important not to tighten the screws too much to avoid damaging the material, while still ensuring a stable connection.
If you have any further questions, I am happy to help!

Sometimes it’s also worth sticking small plastic or rubber pads under the legs to reduce wobbling, especially on slightly uneven floors. If you want it really sturdy, you can even reinforce the legs from the inside with small angle brackets.
A bit of DIY fun – and the dresser will be rock solid again. Good luck!
