Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the layout for my small bathroom, which is only about 3 square meters (32 square feet). I came across the IKEA Platsa system, which seems very flexible due to its modular design. My main question is: Does the IKEA Platsa range include suitable furniture or solutions specifically designed for small bathrooms?

I am mainly looking for storage ideas that take up little space, such as narrow cabinets or space-saving combinations. Perhaps someone has experience using this system in a bathroom setting or knows about any planned extensions. It is also important to me whether the furniture is moisture-resistant and durable enough for bathroom use.

Thank you in advance for your insights and tips!

Hey,

yes, PLATSA is also available for small bathrooms. The modules are very customizable, and there are narrow cabinets that fit well in compact spaces. However, make sure the fronts are suitable for damp environments. It’s best to ask at the IKEA store or check the product description directly.

I can easily understand how challenging it can be to plan in such small spaces, especially when you need storage for many items.

What I like about PLATSA is the flexibility to customize components precisely, which almost always makes it possible to use even smaller corners cleverly. Still, I often feel unsure whether the furniture is truly durable enough for bathroom use. Maybe someone buys something in a hurry and regrets it later. Does anyone have experience with the durability of PLATSA furniture in a damp bathroom?

I would like to provide a brief overview of the IKEA PLATSA system for bathrooms:

- PLATSA is basically a modular cabinet system mainly designed for living spaces.
- For small bathrooms, there are narrower modules that can fit into niches or tighter areas.
- The fronts are not specifically water-resistant, so they are only partly suitable for very damp areas such as directly next to the sink or inside the shower.
- A common mistake is placing PLATSA cabinets directly in wet zones, which can quickly lead to damage.

My advice:
- Use the modules preferably in well-ventilated areas.
- Consider applying additional moisture protection coatings or water repellents if needed.
- Alternatively, you can use PLATSA for areas just outside of the sink zone, for example, to store towels or change of clothes.

In summary: Yes, PLATSA is available for small bathrooms in the form of narrow and flexible cabinets, but you should keep the moisture conditions in mind to avoid damage.

PLATSA is not specifically designed for bathrooms.

You can use it in small bathrooms, but do not place it directly on damp surfaces.

Narrow modules are available; just double-check the dimensions.

Thanks for the tip! My concerns are mainly about the materials, since bathrooms are often quite humid.

Could you please explain what exactly you mean by “wet areas”? I would also appreciate advice on how to position the furniture to prevent moisture damage.

Are there alternatives at IKEA that are better suited for bathrooms than PLATSA?
