Hello everyone,
I am currently focusing on the safety of my apartment, especially regarding my young son, who will soon start touching everything. Therefore, I am considering using child-safe magnetic locking systems for my Kallax shelves. My questions are: What are your experiences with these systems in daily use? Are they truly reliable and childproof, even if little ones pull or push a bit harder? How about the durability of the magnets and the installation process? Are there specific brands or systems that have proven to be particularly reliable? I look forward to detailed feedback and tips to help me make the best decision.

I use the magnetic child safety locks from "Safety Magnet." They are sturdy, easy to install, and so far the mechanism holds up even with vigorous pulling. Strongly recommended for Kallax.

I can fully understand how important safety is to you. In my experience, magnetic locking systems work well, but it’s important to be realistic: no system is 100% childproof, especially if kids are persistent. The magnets can weaken over time; we noticed this after just under a year. In the end, I used a combination of a magnetic lock and an additional securing mechanism, which provides more safety. Stay patient—sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error.

Hey! I love these magnetic locking systems! 😊 They work great for us, installation was easy, and the kids just can’t get to them anymore. The key is to make sure the magnets are strong enough and installed correctly – then they are extremely reliable! 😊 So go for it, this is really a great solution for Kallax and similar furniture!

Magnetic locking systems are a bit like the Swiss Army knife of child safety locks for me – versatile, practical, and if done right, really reliable! 😄 A little tip: also make sure the mounting material is sturdy, because the magnets alone aren’t everything. This even forgives the little bundle of energy at home some frustration when opening it 🙂

This is an important point. Additionally, I recommend ensuring the installation is done correctly – an incorrect distance between the lock and the magnet can significantly affect performance. I personally use a model from "BabyLock," which is known for its good quality. Furthermore, I suggest regularly inspecting the locking systems to maintain their proper function.
