Hello everyone, I am currently planning to transform an unused corner of my Pax wardrobe into a truly practical storage solution. The challenge is that the corner is quite limited due to the wardrobe’s construction, and I want to make the best use of the available space without compromising accessibility. Has anyone had experience modifying or adding to a Pax corner to neatly and easily store items of various sizes? I am especially interested in ways to improve space utilization in the often narrow, deep corners—perhaps with special inserts, shelves, or specific wardrobe accessories. I look forward to tips, recommendations, and any suggestions on products that work particularly well for this purpose.

I can understand that these corners are always quite tricky.

That sums it up well. I would add that during planning, the cabinet doors need to be considered, as the extension of shelves is often limited by doors that are too narrow. Are you thinking more about pull-out shelves with a front panel, or do you prefer open fronts? Another question regarding features: would you like to integrate interior lighting? LED strips can significantly improve visibility without taking up much space.

Thanks for the previous suggestions. The corner measures approximately 60cm by 60cm (24 inches by 24 inches), with a depth of about 55cm (22 inches) and a height of 230cm (90 inches). Storage will mainly consist of medium-sized boxes and small items, primarily accessories and seasonal clothing. The doors are standard hinged doors, not sliding doors. Internal lighting is definitely an idea I hadn’t considered before. Accessibility is important to me since the corner is located towards the back of the room. Are there effective solutions for pull-out systems that work well with hinged doors?

Based on your measurements, I recommend using specialized corner pull-out systems, commonly known as "Magic Corners" or "Blind Corner Pullouts." These are designed to make corner and otherwise unusable space accessible and functional, and they work efficiently with standard cabinet doors. It is important to have a sturdy internal rail system that can support heavy boxes. When combined with swing doors, the pull-outs should close flush or protrude minimally to avoid blocking the doors. Adding motion sensor-activated interior lighting enhances ease of use.

Alternatively, a custom-built shelving system with removable boxes can be considered; it offers more long-term flexibility but is less refined.

Are there effective solutions for drawers that work well with hinged doors?

Yes, there are high-quality roll-out or full-extension drawer systems that are specifically designed for Pax wardrobes. These drawers are constructed to pull out from beneath the cabinet edge without obstructing the doors. This is often referred to as a "front drawer with door stop," which is also compatible with IKEA Pax. Blum’s "Tandembox" systems also work well in this context. Precise installation is essential; especially in corner units, I would recommend the help of an experienced tradesperson. Another useful tip is to equip the doors with soft-close dampers to prevent them from slamming shut accidentally when the drawer is pulled out.

So, I implemented a corner solution with pull-out wire baskets, which really makes visibility and accessibility much easier. It almost feels like the corner comes alive. Although it might not be the high-end option, it’s more than sufficient for everyday use. You can pull them out, see what’s inside, and put things back easily. And if you want to adjust the height, just add a few adjustable shelves, so you’re basically working in layers. That way, you always keep everything organized and in view.

I often use modular systems with folding boxes. They fit very well into the corners of Pax wardrobes and remain flexible. You can take the boxes out and store them elsewhere.
