Hello everyone,

I recently started assembling my new Ikea Metod kitchen and noticed that, although the assembly instructions seem quite detailed, some parts are rather unclear or imprecise. In particular, the steps for leveling the base cabinets and stabilizing the structure don’t always seem to be explained clearly. Does anyone have tips on how to better understand these instructions?

I’m also interested in any practical advice you have for the assembly process—such as preparation, tools, or useful tricks that can make the build easier and the result more stable.

It would be great if you could also highlight potential pitfalls to avoid, so the assembly fits properly in the end and doesn’t take longer than necessary.

Thanks in advance for your experiences and suggestions!

I understand that you want more clarity with the Ikea Metod instructions. I felt the same way—especially during the initial steps, I was unsure if everything fit perfectly. My advice is to take plenty of time sorting and checking the parts before you start assembling.

What helped me was assembling the cabinets without screws first to get a feel for how the parts fit together. It’s also very important to keep using a spirit level—small inaccuracies can lead to big problems later on.

At first, I was afraid of making mistakes too, but with calm and methodical work, it turned out fine. If it gets stressful, just take a break and come back with fresh eyes later—that gave me confidence.

Hello Barla, I’d like to explain the construction of the IKEA Metod kitchen in more detail and help you better understand the instructions from a technical perspective.

First of all, it is important to view the instructions as a dynamic document: they show the general steps but do not always address individual room situations or inaccuracies.

My key implementation tips:
- Preparation: Set up a sufficiently large, tidy workspace, sort all components by cabinet, and check them for completeness.
- Tools: In addition to the supplied screwdriver, I recommend a good cordless drill with variable torque control, a spirit level, a tape measure, and possibly a clamp.
- Assembly: Always work step by step and regularly check that the cabinets are square and properly aligned. These checks are especially crucial when installing the kickboards and side panels.

Absolutely right – without this patience, errors quickly occur that are difficult to correct later.

Have you already checked whether your floor and walls are level? This is often an underestimated point that affects the rest of the assembly. It is often advisable to use shims or spacer blocks here to achieve perfect alignment.

If you like, feel free to describe in more detail which steps you feel particularly uncertain about.

Important: First, assemble the cabinets without screws and check the fit. Use a spirit level thoroughly, including between assembly steps.

Tools: A cordless drill with torque control and a good measuring tape would be ideal.

Install the baseboards at the end, only after everything is aligned.

Hello Barla, it is completely understandable that not all the steps in assembling the Ikea Metod kitchen are entirely clear to you, and many people feel the same way. Take your time and remember – every instruction manual is a compromise between clarity and level of detail.

I can only confirm that. Another tip from me is to temporarily place the cabinets together before tightening them permanently and to loosely insert the dowels or connectors beforehand. This way, you can better see how everything fits together.

If you start assembling at the wall edge, you can respond flexibly to any unevenness and make corrections more easily.

Please don’t overwhelm yourself – even professional installers sometimes need several attempts until everything is stable and level. Keep this in mind; it helps reduce the pressure.

If you need assistance, feel free to ask specific questions related to the individual assembly steps, so we can provide more targeted support.
