FRANKO-BL06 Feb 2020 08:43Hello everyone, I recently purchased an IKEA Hemnes wardrobe and am currently facing the issue of properly mounting and securing the doors. The hinges and fastening materials are included in the delivery, but I am unsure how to hang the doors securely and adjust them correctly so that they close smoothly and do not sag. Could you please provide a detailed guide or tips on how to professionally attach the IKEA Hemnes wardrobe doors? Advice on the necessary tools, recommended steps for aligning the doors, or common mistakes to avoid would also be very helpful. Thanks in advance!
Hey, great decision with Hemnes! 😊 Attaching the doors to the wardrobe properly is not difficult at all! Just get all the hinges ready, then put the doors in place and make adjustments with small screws. You’ll see, they will close like new! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
For proper installation of the Hemnes cabinet doors: The concealed hinges are attached to the inside of the door with two screws each. Then, the hinges are hooked into the cabinet frame and adjusted using small adjustment screws. The following points are important: – Ensure the door is aligned parallel to the cabinet carcass, – Check and adjust gaps on all sides, – Make sure the door does not scrape at the bottom, especially on wooden floors. Important: Use screwdrivers with the appropriate tip (usually Phillips PH2) to avoid damaging the screw heads.

Ensure door alignment parallel to the cabinet bodyThis is exactly my main issue – my doors seem slightly crooked, especially one that doesn’t close properly at times. Could this be caused by the hinges I installed on the cabinet body beforehand? Should I use a spirit level to adjust, or is it better to align by eye?

Could this be caused by the hinges I attached to the cabinet carcass beforehand? That is certainly possible. The hinges must be installed exactly at right angles to the cabinet carcass, as even small deviations can cause the doors to hang crooked. I recommend using a combination of a spirit level and visual inspection. First, roughly align the hinges, then hang the door and adjust it using the hinge adjustment screws. Most modern concealed hinges offer multi-axis adjustment (lateral, height, and depth), allowing very precise alignment.
