Hello everyone,
I am currently assembling Malm dressers and have often read that the seemingly simple IKEA instructions frequently lead to problems and mistakes. Therefore, my question to the community is: Is there a truly error-free assembly guide for MALM dressers?
By that, I mean a guide without contradictory steps, missing screw specifications, or unclear illustrations, so that even someone with little experience can assemble the furniture correctly without any issues.
Perhaps someone has especially good tips or knows of a particular version of the instructions (maybe online or improved by third parties) that I could use?
Thank you for your feedback!

If you like, I can create a detailed step-by-step list to help alongside the IKEA instructions.\That sounds very helpful! I have the Malm dresser with 6 drawers (model number 303.604.23). My tools are limited to an Allen key, hammer, and a small Phillips screwdriver; I don’t have a cordless drill.
While sorting the parts, I noticed three different types of screws, some without clear labels in the manual. The order for assembling the drawer slides seemed illogical in some places. Is there a way to get guidance specifically for this model that addresses these common pitfalls?

Is there a way to get specific guidance for this model that takes typical sources of errors into account?Sure! For the 6-drawer MALM model, there are actually several adjustments you can make.
First tip: When installing the drawer slides, make sure they are not crooked but perfectly parallel. Otherwise, you’ll likely have trouble closing the drawers later on.
Second: Your tool set sounds like it could use some improvement. A cordless drill with adjustable torque is especially important to avoid over-tightening screws and damaging the wood.
Third: Always screw in with care and note the type of screws on the packaging when using different kinds.
If you want, I can send you a brief summary of the most common mistakes based on my own assembly guide.
Finally: Pay close attention to the alignment of the front panels, especially in steps 4 and 6 of the instructions – that’s where errors often occur.
Let me know!
It's awesome that you go into such detail here! 🙂
I’ve also built a MALM dresser before, and I realized: the instructions can sometimes be really frustrating, but if you take your time and don’t rush, it works out really well!
My tip: Don’t get discouraged if something doesn’t fit right away – just go back and check carefully, often it’s just a small screw that was mixed up!
And: Always make sure to enjoy the process! 😉

...to perform a precise sorting of all delivery parts before assembly and to check them against the parts list. That has always helped me as well. Especially with MALM, screws and dowels are easily mixed up.
I would strongly recommend going through each step carefully before moving on to the next phase. This prevents unnecessary unscrewing.
