StefanguHello everyone, I am currently planning a children's room and noticed the IKEA Platsa system, which is very modular and versatile. My question is whether there are specific Platsa models that are especially suitable for children—for example, due to their size, stability, or safety. I am thinking of features like child-friendly height, rounded edges, or flexible storage that can grow with the child. Perhaps someone has practical experience or knows of particular models that are especially good for children's rooms? I look forward to any tips and recommendations.

The IKEA PLATSA system offers various basic units suitable for children's rooms. Models with a low height, such as the PLATSA shelf measuring 60cm x 64cm (24 inches x 25 inches), are better from a child safety perspective. Wall anchoring and child-safe handles, which are usually available as accessories for PLATSA, are important. Additionally, parents should prefer storage with doors to prevent accidents caused by falling objects.
I find the PLATSA system really practical for kids! 😄 Especially the lower combinations work great because children can easily reach everything. And the cool thing is: you can brighten it up with colorful fronts (or self-decorated panels) to make it look much more child-friendly. The only important thing, as CHENFAR says, is to secure it to the wall – otherwise, it can quickly turn into a huge Picasso accident! 😉

Important are the wall anchoring and child-safe handles, which are usually available as accessories for PLATSA. I would like to emphasize this. Additionally, when choosing cabinet doors, it is advisable to select models with soft-close features to prevent finger injuries in children. The PLATSA system offers various front options, the weight of which can affect stability, an important factor for children who like to climb.I am using the PLATSA system in our children's room. From my experience, the lower cabinets with doors work best because children can open the compartments independently without needing to climb or remove too much. The modules are sturdy, but I also added edge protectors since the edges can be somewhat sharp – our little one has already bumped into them. It is important to secure the cabinets; otherwise, there is an increased risk of accidents.
