Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to furnish a new bedroom using the IKEA PAX wardrobe system and would like to use sliding doors to save space. My question is: What IKEA PAX options with sliding doors are currently available?

Specifically, I am interested in different sizes, door types, finishes, and possibly various interior organizers that are compatible with sliding doors. Are there options suitable for smaller rooms that offer certain modular features?

I would appreciate as detailed an overview as possible, including advice on the advantages and disadvantages of the different options.

The IKEA PAX wardrobe system with sliding doors is available in various widths: 100cm (40 inches), 150cm (60 inches), and 200cm (79 inches). The doors are usually made of glass, wood, or a combination of both. Inside, you can use all standard PAX interior fittings.

Very interesting that you’re asking about the options! The PAX sliding doors actually offer quite a variety, so let me break it down clearly:

- Widths: 50cm to 100cm (20 to 40 inches) per door, usually two or three doors are used for frames that are 100, 150, or 200cm (40, 60, or 80 inches) wide
- Designs: Frames come in white, birch-colored, and dark brown
- Doors: Sliding combinations made from opaque glass, mirrors, wooden fronts (e.g., Ädel, Hemnes style)
- Interior fittings: Drawers, hanging rods, shelves, pull-out trouser racks, shoe inserts – all modular

Important: Sliding doors require the PAX frame with guide rails at the top and bottom, specifically designed for this option. The doors operate on rollers. You should pay close attention to the height, as sliding doors are slightly taller than regular hinged doors.

Additional information:

1. Dimensions: For PAX wardrobes with sliding doors, the following standard widths are available: 100cm (40 inches), 150cm (60 inches) (usually with 2 doors), and 200cm (80 inches) (usually with 3 doors). The height varies between 201cm and 236cm (79 inches and 93 inches).

2. Door options:
- Mirror doors (single-sided, two-part, or full)
- Glass sliding doors (tinted, frosted, or clear)
- Wooden doors (painted or veneered)

3. Materials & colors: Doors come in various designs, for example smooth white, gray, dark brown, with frames in aluminum or wood finish.

4. Installation: It is important to ensure precise fixation of the sliding tracks during assembly. The doors have different weight categories, which can affect stability.

Tip: IKEA often offers combination packages with frames and doors, which makes planning easier!

Wow, the PAX system with sliding doors is really versatile! 😊 I have a version with mirrors and sand-colored doors myself. It saves a lot of space and looks really modern!

What I find especially great is that you can change the doors later if you want something new. So go ahead with the project – it’s definitely worth trying! 💪

Could you please explain in more detail how the guide rails work? Do I need to pay attention to specific measurements, or are there limitations regarding the depths of the PAX carcasses? I have read that there are depths of 35 and 58 cm (14 and 23 inches).
