harun66Hello everyone,
I am planning to install my new IKEA Metod kitchen and face the challenge of mounting the fronts without visible screws. The Metod cabinets are quite standardized, typically fixed from the back with screws that remain visible at the corners. My question is: How can I mount IKEA Metod kitchen fronts so that no screws are visible on the front side, without compromising stability or functionality?
I have seen different solutions such as concealed mounting brackets or magnetic fasteners, but I am not sure if these are compatible with the Metod fronts or exactly how to hide the screws.
In addition, I would appreciate tips on how to make this process tool-friendly and avoid damaging the fronts.
Does anyone have experience with this specific issue? Thank you in advance!

How can I install IKEA Metod kitchen fronts so that no screws are visible from the front, without compromising stability or functionality?Hello harun66,
you have summarized the topic very well. The Metod kitchen fronts are indeed designed so that the attachment is mainly done from the inside, meaning from the back and the sides. To make the screws invisible, the following methods are primarily used:
- Using concealed mounting brackets (also called adapter plates), which are often used together with the original fittings.
- Installing with special clip systems that are screwed into the fronts without screws visible from the front.
- Magnetic fasteners or neodymium magnets, which look very clean but require a bit more effort in terms of stability and alignment.
It is important with all methods to ensure the gap between the cabinet and the front is correct, so it does not bind or have too much play afterward.
Regarding tools: a cordless screwdriver with adjustable torque is recommended to avoid overtightening the screws. When fastening, the screws should preferably be guided through the existing guides in the Metod system to avoid damaging the front.
If you like, I can provide more detailed information on each method.

- First, keep in mind that Metod fronts are basically designed for screws to be inserted through the back panel of the cabinet into the fronts. This means these screws are usually visible at the back but not directly visible from the front when using the correct adapters.
- The easiest way to avoid visible screws is to use IKEA’s own clip-on fasteners (adapter plates), which are screwed in from the rear and then snapped into the fronts. This way, no screws are visible on the front side.
- An important tip: If you want extra protection, you can cover the adapter plate positions with small caps or even subtle plastic or metal covers specifically made for Metod components. This ensures all connections are fully concealed.
- If this solution is not sufficient or you want an even cleaner look, some third-party suppliers offer concealed fastening systems that don’t require through screws. However, these usually require more precise measuring and possibly some modifications to the fronts.
- To avoid damage, always use screws with the appropriate length and diameter. Screws that are too long can damage the fronts and fittings.
- If you’re doing it yourself: work with small test assemblies to precisely determine the front positions before fastening all screws.
One question: Are you planning to refit the existing Metod fronts or building completely new ones? That affects the best approach.

- Use the original adapter plates (clip-on system) from IKEA, which are screwed in from the inside.
- Screw the adapter plates onto the back of the cabinet and then snap the fronts in place.
- The clip-on system holds securely, and you won’t see any screws on the front.
If you follow this, you don’t need to drill or modify anything extra. This is the easiest and quickest method.
