I like the idea of providing a practical solution for renters as well, since I’m not allowed to drill screws into the wall myself and I understand the uncertainty around Billy bookcases.

Unfortunately, I’ve also learned that simple furniture pads often aren’t enough when the shelf is very tall and heavily loaded. In those cases, the shelf can shift a little if it’s accidentally bumped. But with careful handling, these pads help a lot.
