Hello everyone,
I have some furniture from the Ikea Hemnes series, including dressers and nightstands, which have been in use for some time. Unfortunately, some of the fittings are now worn out or even damaged – especially the hinges and handles show signs of wear. My question is whether there are suitable replacement fittings for Ikea Hemnes furniture that can be easily purchased without needing to replace the entire furniture piece.
I am particularly interested in whether there are compatible hinges, handles, and possibly other fittings that are exactly matched to the dimensions and drillings of the Hemnes series. Or if one would have to rely on generic replacement parts that would then require adjustments.
Does anyone have experience with whether Ikea itself offers these spare parts or if other manufacturers have compatible replacement fittings available?
I would greatly appreciate detailed information or tips on where to source these!

I think the whole question about "compatible replacement fittings" for Ikea Hemnes is somewhat overemphasized. Of course, there are suitable parts available, but Hemnes is primarily an affordable solid wood furniture piece, sometimes with less than perfect workmanship.
So why not simply upgrade by installing better hinges or handles right away? Who says you always have to replace the original hardware?
I once replaced the original hinges on a sideboard with high-quality soft-close versions from a household hardware manufacturer – they fit perfectly after a bit of adjustment and are miles better than the original.
You don’t necessarily have to rely on Ikea and can definitely find options in other price ranges, especially if you are looking for durable and comfortable solutions.

However, it should be emphasized for beginners that switching to soft-close hinges requires precise measurements and, if necessary, adjustments to the drill holes. Hemnes furniture is made of solid wood, so incorrect installation can cause permanent damage. I recommend carefully reviewing the installation instructions for the replacement hinges and possibly doing a trial installation first.
For those less experienced with DIY work, original replacement parts from Ikea are often the safer choice due to their exact fit.
Ikea Hemnes replacement fittings: Ikea often offers replacement hinges and handles. If not, take measurements and purchase compatible standard fittings from Blum or Hettich. Soft-close requires adjustments. Pay attention to the hole spacing for handles. Otherwise, the replacement usually works without problems.
