Hello everyone, I was wondering if there is an overview or even a reliable collection of the most common problems and defects with the Ikea Brimnes furniture range. I am specifically interested in structural weaknesses, difficulties during assembly, as well as any recurring material issues reported by multiple users. Is there a kind of "best-of" list of typical frustrations that one should be aware of before purchasing? I would like to draw on some community experiences to make a well-informed decision.

You will often encounter issues during assembly, especially with the drawer slides. Sometimes the screw holes are not precisely pre-drilled. The surface can also be easily scratched.

Hey, lists like these are really helpful to avoid frustration! 😊 Many people mention that the hinges need to be adjusted after a while. Don’t let that discourage you; the BRIMNES is a great wardrobe – with a little patience, it lasts really well! 👍

Hello, I can understand the question well. With BRIMNES, there are often issues such as warped drawer fronts and slightly damaged surfaces. The back panels are also quite thin and prone to damage during assembly. It is especially important to carefully check all parts before assembling and to tighten screws well, but not too tight, to avoid splitting the wood.

I think it’s important to put this into perspective. BRIMNES is not a high-end piece of furniture, so some weaknesses are to be expected. What would be more interesting is why Ikea doesn’t communicate these issues more clearly or improve the quality in certain areas. Has anyone here ever tried to get an official list of defects directly from Ikea?

This already confirms my impression that the assembly video and instructions are sometimes not enough when the parts don’t fit perfectly. How time-consuming is it typically to fix such inaccuracies on your own?

Would it be advisable to use alternative materials for the back panel? Maybe plywood instead of particle board, or would that affect the overall stability too much?
