Hello everyone, I am planning to purchase several IKEA Platsa furniture units and would like to estimate how much time I should allocate for the complete assembly. Specifically, I am interested in how long it typically takes to assemble a full Platsa system – including cabinets with all shelves, drawers, and doors. I understand that this depends on various factors, but perhaps you have some experience or can share how the assembly went for you, whether doing it alone or with a second person. Are there any tips on how to make the process more time-efficient? Looking forward to your insights!

For assembling a simple Platsa cabinet, I would estimate about 2 to 3 hours if you are working alone. Multiple modules combined can easily take 5 to 6 hours. With assistance, it naturally goes faster.

I once assembled a Platsa system with two large cabinets on my own – it took me about 5 hours. 😊 Especially when you’re working through the instructions for the first time and sorting all the parts, it takes a lot of time. My tip: Lay out all the parts beforehand, so you can find everything faster and save yourself a lot of stress!

Hello Podoreo, your question is very practical! From my experience, the assembly time largely depends on whether you are working with a second person and how well you handle the typical IKEA instructions. A single Platsa wardrobe with standard dimensions (1-2 modules) usually takes about 2 to 4 hours for complete assembly – including sorting the parts and screws. If you want to install several wardrobes or more complex systems with drawers and doors, you should plan at least 6 hours, especially if you are doing it alone. It is also important to allow time for adjusting the doors and drawers so that everything fits perfectly later on. If you want more details, feel free to ask!

Interesting, but I think this time estimate is a bit optimistic, as the assembly process also depends on individual experience. Additionally, one should not overlook that assembling IKEA furniture often requires extra time for understanding the multilingual instructions and sorting the individual parts. Especially with multiple modules, the effort increases exponentially since attaching and adjusting the doors can easily take around half an hour per module. Personally, I would therefore allocate at least 7 to 8 hours for fully assembling three Platsa modules.

Thanks for all the insights so far! I also gave Platsa a try last week and can confirm that patience is very important. Sometimes you think, “I can finish this in 2 hours,” but then you run into small issues that disrupt your plan, like missing drill holes or something that doesn’t quite fit. What helped me was taking a break and then coming back with a fresh mind. That’s the only way I managed to complete the assembly alone throughout the day. How do you handle it when things get tricky?
