Hello everyone, I recently assembled the IKEA Brimnes bed frame, but some of the included screws don’t fit properly. Specifically, some screws are too short or don’t engage cleanly in the threads, which makes me worried that the stability could be compromised. Has anyone else had similar experiences? How did you resolve this issue? Are there common mistakes during assembly with these screws that I should watch out for? I would really appreciate detailed tips or workarounds, especially if I need to find replacements. Thanks in advance!

If the screws are too short, I would recommend not using them at all. Get replacements in the correct size from a hardware store. Otherwise, try adjusting the screws again carefully—often the issue is just the wrong angle.

That sounds like a classic IKEA screw dilemma 😅 Sometimes the screws are actually too short or too long, which makes assembly frustrating. I would just stay relaxed and replace the screws with ones from the hardware store that fit better. I understand the annoyance well, but cheer up – soon you’ll be sleeping comfortably inside!

Screws that are too short or do not fit properly in IKEA furniture are a common issue. It is important to first carefully check the included instructions and ensure that the correct screws are used in the right places. The number one source of errors is often confusing similar types of screws. If the screws are indeed defective or too short, it is advisable to replace them with screws of the same specifications from a hardware store. Diameter, thread pitch, and length should match exactly to avoid compromising the structural integrity.

Hello gumafra, I am familiar with the issues related to Brimnes furniture. Often, the problem is not actually the length, but that the screws are not inserted straight or the threads in the wood are not completely clean. My recommendation is to first check if the screws are free of any paint residues that could clog the threads. If necessary, carefully clean the threads in the wood with a screwdriver. Sometimes, treating the screws lightly with wax or soap can help them grip better. I would only buy replacement screws if nothing else works.

I also had problems with the screws on Brimnes once. My tip: use a small file to slightly deburr the threaded holes. That often makes the difference. If the screws are too short, never force them in; instead, get replacements.
