Hello everyone, I am planning to outfit an Ikea Pax wardrobe with mirrored doors but am unsure which of the various plexiglass or glass doors with mirrors are the most suitable. I am especially interested in criteria such as durability, mirror clarity, cleaning recommendations, and how well they perform in everyday use—particularly regarding possible scratches and fogging. Additionally, I would like to know if anyone has experience with the different sizes and opening mechanisms of the mirrored doors and whether they are better suited for narrow or wide carcasses. Which mirrored doors for the Ikea PAX series would you recommend and why? Thank you in advance for your insights!
Hello, I understand well how confusing the selection of PAX doors with mirrors can be. I personally have the mirrored doors in a light finish with a glass front and handle them carefully, as they scratch easily if you’re not careful. It’s especially important to me that the mirrored doors are mounted securely because with daily use, I really noticed the weight and hinges. Have you already considered whether you want the doors with or without framing? In my experience, doors with framed mirrors are somewhat more resistant to damage. Also, I would be interested to know if you already have a specific cabinet carcass or if you are still flexible — that also affects which door models you can actually install.

Here is a brief overview:
- Glass doors with a mirrored surface usually have a slightly higher price but are more scratch-resistant and clearer than plexiglass.
- Plexiglass mirrored doors are lighter and offer more safety in case of breakage, but the surface can become dull over time.
- Doors with aluminum frames better protect the mirror and look more premium.
- If you have humid rooms, pay attention to special coatings, as mirrors can otherwise fog up or tarnish.
It is best to also check before purchase whether the hinges fit the existing PAX carcass, as there are different versions.

Thanks for the helpful tips so far. I initially considered acrylic glass because of the weight, but I was concerned about its durability. I think especially if the cabinet is used frequently, having a sturdier frame makes sense to ensure long-term satisfaction. Does anyone have advice on how to best prevent scratches on mirrors? Do you use any special care products?
