Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to optimize storage space at home and am considering buying a wardrobe from the Ikea PAX series. I have a question: Which Ikea PAX models are particularly suitable for maximizing storage in apartments with limited space?

It is important to me that the wardrobe offers flexible interior layouts, various storage options such as hanging rails, drawers, and shelves, and provides as much storage space as possible on a minimal footprint.

Are there models within the PAX range that stand out due to specific dimensions, accessories, or features? What about different heights or versions with various door types?

I look forward to your experiences and recommendations, including specific details about the variants you use or know well.

Basically, the Ikea PAX series is excellent for optimizing storage space due to its modular design, especially in small rooms or apartments with limited floor area.

- Narrower widths like 50 cm (20 inches) or 75 cm (30 inches) provide good options for tight spaces.
- Combinations of tall frames (236 cm / 93 inches) with various interior fittings such as pull-out drawers, adjustable shelves, or clothing rails allow for very customized arrangements.
- Versions with sliding doors are also space-saving since no door clearance is needed.

I agree with that: The PAX system with its variety of accessories is a clear advantage compared to simple wardrobes. For optimized storage, I especially recommend models with more drawers, as these make better use of the space than simple shelving units.

An important factor when choosing the PAX model for storage optimization is the height. I recommend the 236 cm (7 ft 9 in) high model, as it makes better use of the vertical space available. This allows for more compartments, and combined with drawers and interior fittings such as baskets, smaller items or shoes can be stored more easily.

This is a very important point that should not be underestimated. Sliding doors significantly optimize usable space, especially in narrow rooms or hallways.

The depth is also relevant: the standard 58 cm (23 in) depth is ideal for hanging clothes normally on hangers without the garments being pressed too tightly. Those who only need shelves can opt for shallower models to save more floor space in the room.

I always find it helpful to carefully plan what will actually be stored before making a purchase decision. PAX truly offers great flexibility for this.

- For clothing that requires a lot of hanging space, models with two clothes rails are practical, usually divided at about 110 cm (43 inches).
- For more storage space for folded laundry or bags, drawers or baskets are ideal, as they provide plenty of usable storage without having to reach into shelves.
- Also important: interior lighting can improve visibility, especially in taller models.

Additionally, I recommend using interior fitting systems such as pull-down wardrobe rails or pull-out systems in PAX units when the storage space is particularly tall. This also makes it easy to access hard-to-reach areas.

When there is limited floor space and the wardrobe needs to be very wide, combinations of narrow modules are also useful. These can be assembled individually instead of using one large frame.
