wilfridHello everyone,
I am planning to assemble several Ikea Hemnes dressers soon, and since they come with quite a number of parts and screws, I’m wondering if there are any proven tips or methods to significantly speed up the assembly process.
I’m especially interested in practical advice that helps to carry out the necessary steps more efficiently and avoid potential pitfalls. Maybe you have experience with the order of assembly, tools, or techniques that make putting them together easier.
So, are there any tricks for faster assembly of Ikea Hemnes dressers? I look forward to your helpful suggestions!

Hey wilfrid!
Great question, I love challenges like this! 😄 My absolute tip is to first lay out and sort all the parts and screws before you start. This way, you avoid wasting time searching during assembly.
Also: A cordless drill with adjustable torque is invaluable, especially for Hemnes dressers where there are many smaller screws that shouldn’t be over-tightened – otherwise something can easily get damaged!
And really important: Be patient and take your time with each step. Often, this actually makes the assembly easier rather than slowing it down. You’ve got this! 💪👍

- Before starting assembly, it is advisable to check all fittings against the instructions.
- Following the assembly steps carefully without skipping any minimizes mistakes.
- Pre-drilling is usually not necessary but can be helpful on older floors.
- Small parts are best organized in small bowls to avoid mix-ups and losses.
This systematic approach overall ensures a smoother and faster assembly process.
In addition to the points already mentioned, I find the following efficient:
- Using the supplied plastic scraper or a small wooden hammer for the drawers reduces time and effort when inserting the drawer runners.
- While assembly with two people is not strictly necessary, it is practical to better align and hold large parts.
- Creating a clean, well-lit workspace helps minimize errors caused by poor visibility.
These tips can really make the process smoother.

At first, just screw in the screws lightly so that all parts fit together.I totally agree with that! 😊
Last time, I roughly assembled all the parts before tightening the screws fully. This saves a lot of time adjusting and prevents frustration. Don’t worry, even if the Hemnes can be a bit tricky sometimes, you’ll feel great once everything is in place! ✌️
