Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to assemble an Ikea Metod kitchen unit with integrated appliances (oven, dishwasher, cooktop, refrigerator). My question is quite specific: How can I build this kitchen unit optimally so that the appliances are installed correctly and securely, the fronts align perfectly, and the wall cabinets and countertop fit with millimeter precision?

It is especially important for me to know the best order for assembly and what to pay attention to during the installation of the appliances and the wiring, as I want to complete this as smoothly as possible without needing rework.

Does anyone have experience with correctly securing the Metod cabinets and appliance supports, especially when assembling on uneven floors? Which tools are truly necessary? Are there any tips for the assembly when installing a complete kitchen with appliances for the first time?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

That sounds interesting, could you please explain a bit more precisely which installation aids you mean?

Sure! Ikea offers so-called "assembly brackets" and "connector fittings" that help securely screw cabinets together and fix them straight to the wall without warping the front panels. Equally important are the "wall cabinet fasteners" for the upper cabinets, which ensure safe load distribution.

For the baseboards, the so-called "baseboard clips" are used – if you install these correctly at the floor, you prevent premature warping.

Regarding your question about electricity: It is safer to have the electrical connection done by a professional at the very end, once the appliances are correctly positioned.

In summary:
- Installation aids = Ikea assembly kits plus small helpers like wedges or spacers
- Pay special attention to water and electrical connections, especially for the oven and dishwasher.

If you want detailed steps, I can gladly post a short mini-tutorial.

Thanks for the tip. How exactly do you fasten these clips correctly, especially on uneven floors? Are there any practical tips to make alignment easier?

Also, I’m curious whether the fronts of the appliances can be aligned before final installation, or if that is only possible once the entire cabinet is in place? You want to avoid scratching anything during adjustments.

Attach the baseboard clips to the baseboard first, then press them gently with slight tension against the cabinet carcass. For uneven floors, adjust the leveling feet correctly first; otherwise, everything will remain crooked. It is best to hang the fronts last, directly on the carcass, to ensure a clean, flush fit.

That makes sense, thank you! So I will first fully assemble, align, and secure the carcasses as well as install the worktop. Then I will fit the appliances, and as the last step, mount the fronts.

If anyone has tips on the optimal sequence for integrating the electrical appliances, especially regarding the seals around the cooktop or the installation of the oven, I would appreciate it.

For example: are there important steps or sequences to follow when connecting the dishwasher to avoid leaks or malfunctions later on?
