Hello everyone, I am about to start assembling my new IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets and I’m wondering which tools are absolutely essential to ensure a smooth and stable installation. Specifically, I’m interested in whether, besides a cordless drill or a regular screwdriver, there are other tools strongly recommended, for example, for precise leveling or particular assembly steps. Perhaps someone here has experience with the Metod system and can share tips on which tools definitely belong in the toolbox to avoid unnecessary frustration or rework. A cordless screwdriver with a Phillips bit and a rubber mallet are the basics. This is sufficient for the standard construction.

I understand well how uncertain one can feel before such a large project. With the Metod system, besides the cordless drill, a spirit level also helped me a lot to ensure everything is straight. You will surely notice that some shelves become wobbly quickly if they are not aligned precisely. A small tip: take your time, even if it takes longer, as this will save you trouble later.

Basically, the Metod system is modular and should fit well with the included materials. However, I would always recommend having a tape measure or a folding ruler at hand. Especially when aligning the base cabinets or installing a countertop, decisions made in centimeters are often crucial for the overall result. It’s hardly possible to work precisely without a tape measure.

Additionally, I would point out that a cordless screwdriver is not only a must-have but also a set of bits in various sizes, as different screws may be used at times. A Phillips, slotted, and possibly a hex key set can also be useful. For support or more precise adjustments when working alone, a clamp can be helpful.
