Hello everyone,
I am looking for advice on choosing suitable cable grommets for IKEA Besta furniture. This series is often used to create TV units or home theater setups, where multiple cables need to be routed neatly and discreetly. With Besta in particular, it can be challenging to find the ideal cable grommets due to the many configuration options and different back panels. The grommets should look good and fit well without damaging the material or compromising stability.
Which types of cable grommets have you successfully installed? Are there specific sizes or designs that work especially well with Besta units? I am especially interested in options that are easy to install and provide a clean appearance, possibly with brushes or flaps to protect against dust and tangled cables.
What experiences have you had regarding installation and durability?
Looking forward to your tips and feedback!

As a supplement: It is important to determine the exact hole size, typically 60 mm (2.4 inches), since many standardized cable grommets are designed for this dimension. Plastic grommets with brushes provide good strain relief and dust protection, while being lightweight and easy to install. Metal grommets can be useful under higher stress, but they involve greater effort and more stringent manufacturing requirements.
Furthermore, during installation, care should be taken not to compromise the structural integrity of the back panel, as IKEA Besta furniture does not have solid back panels. Therefore, the choice of location is important.

I've often seen people cut holes that were too large because they were careless. 😅 It’s better to take a bit more time and saw or chisel carefully than to damage the good piece of furniture. I prefer plastic grommets with brushes since I can’t tolerate dust and tangled cables at all! Keep it up, everyone, this is going to turn out great!
