Hello everyone, I have been experiencing a problem for some time with the running wheels on my IKEA Besta cabinet. Some wheels stick, move with difficulty, or sometimes come off the track. Since I don’t want to replace the entire cabinet, I’m wondering how to repair the running wheels on an IKEA Besta. Are there spare parts that can be easily swapped, or is a more complex repair necessary? The mechanism consists of plastic running wheels with metal axles, secured with a small clip. I look forward to any tips, advice, or experiences from those of you who have dealt with this issue before.
For repairing IKEA Besta roller wheels, it is essential to use the correct replacement wheel, as differences in size and axle design can cause problems. It is important to thoroughly clean all moving parts before reinstalling and check for any damage. Another common issue is dirty or bent guide rails, which can interfere with smooth movement. In such cases, I recommend lightly cleaning the rails and checking for deformations before focusing solely on replacing the wheels. Use silicone spray sparingly and only as needed—this is not always advisable for plastic wheels.

Use silicone spray very sparingly and only when necessary – it is not always recommended for plastic rollers.I completely agree; that matches my experience as well. Applying too much lubricant on plastic often makes the rollers slippery and leaves sticky residues that cause more harm. It’s better to clean and replace parts before assembly.

Too much lubricant on plastic often makes the rollers even more slippery and leaves sticky residue,Exactly, I had the same issue! But a little trick that helped me: just take a dry cloth and wipe off the excess spray. Then it works perfectly again! Don’t give up, it’s definitely worth it! 😃
I love it when you can do the work yourself and get your furniture working again! The Besta rollers require a bit of patience, but they are usually quite durable. When removing them, I often use tweezers to pull out the clips. You can often get replacements for free from IKEA if the item is still relatively new. Otherwise, when reinstalling, make sure the roller is positioned correctly and firmly, or you won’t get smooth and silent gliding anymore! 😄
