Are there any practical tips for transporting IKEA Platsa furniture? I am about to pick up several Platsa units that are quite bulky and want to do this as safely and efficiently as possible. I am especially interested in how to best prepare the individual modules, which tools or aids are useful, and if there are any special tricks to avoid damage to the furniture and the vehicle. Additionally, I would like to know if there are specific loading sequences that can make transport easier. I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Always disassemble Platsa completely, if possible. Remove the back panels and protect individual parts with blankets or cardboard. When loading, ensure that heavy parts are placed at the bottom.

It is important to disassemble the Platsa modules as much as possible to minimize the risk of damage. Use ratchet straps or strong tie-downs in the vehicle to secure everything. Cover delicate surfaces with blankets or bubble wrap. When loading, secure the back panels and doors separately, as they can easily get misaligned.

The topic is definitely not easy, especially when you don’t have many helpers. I remember being very stressed once because a large Platsa module tipped over and the doors got damaged. It’s a good idea to plan in advance which parts to load first and which to load last, possibly with the help of two people. It’s very reassuring when you feel that nothing is just shifting around during transport.

Use a hand truck or trolley for heavier parts. Also, check the screws before loading to ensure nothing comes loose. And don’t forget protective blankets.

A proven tip is to wrap the modules with stretch film before loading them into the vehicle. This prevents abrasion and protects against dust. Additionally, sharp edges should be covered with foam padding to avoid damage to other furniture or the vehicle.
