Teota48Hello everyone, I have a specific question regarding the care and cleaning of my IKEA Brimnes cabinet. Due to the materials, especially the painted surfaces and the many edges and corners, I am wondering which types of brushes are best suited to clean the cabinet effectively without causing any damage. Are there special brushes that work well on both the smooth surfaces and the corners or hard-to-reach areas? It is also important to me that the brush does not leave unsightly scratches. I would appreciate any tips, preferably with a brief explanation of why that brush is particularly suitable.
For cleaning IKEA BRIMNES, it is recommended to use a combination of a microfiber cloth for the smooth, painted surfaces and a small brush with soft synthetic bristles for edges and corners.
- Microfiber cloths provide gentle, scratch-free cleaning and effectively pick up dust as well as light dirt.
- For dirt settled deeper in edges, small brushes with nylon bristles are ideal because they are sturdy enough to loosen grime without damaging the surface.
Alternatively, brushes with short, soft bristles can also be used for narrow areas.

I would say the best companion for your BRIMNES is definitely the microfiber brush. They are so gentle that your furniture will shine afterward without getting a single scratch. And for the corners – small brushes with short, soft bristles are usually enough. They get perfectly into the cracks and corners without needing much force. It’s a bit like happy cleaning, really. 😊

Would you recommend hand brushes or those with handles that are more rounded or pointed? I’m asking because I’m unsure which would work best for the narrow edges without being too thick.

They provide better precision and control when cleaning hard-to-reach areas. Hand brushes are often too large and cumbersome for these details. Additionally, synthetic bristles are preferred because they are gentler on the paint and more flexible than natural bristles.
