Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to assemble my Pax wardrobe and have a question: What is the proper way to secure the PAX plinth/base? I understand that the plinth provides a stable foundation for the frame, but I am unsure which fastening methods are recommended to ensure long-term stability and safety. Specifically, I would like to know if the plinth should definitely be fixed to the wall, which screws and plugs are suitable for this purpose, and whether the plinth can stand securely without wall attachment, especially on different types of flooring. Are there any special installation tips to keep in mind to avoid wobbling or tipping later on? I look forward to detailed experiences and advice, thank you in advance!

The PAX base should ideally be securely fixed to the wall to ensure the overall stability of the cabinet.
- For wall mounting, it is recommended to use heavy-duty anchors and appropriate screws, depending on the wall material (e.g., concrete, drywall, brick).
- First, align the base properly and check the distance to the wall.
- Then mark the drill holes through the base or on the back.
- It is important to realign the base after fixing it, especially if the floor is uneven.
- On uneven floors, adding a shim under the base can also be important to prevent rocking.
Without wall mounting, there is generally a risk that the cabinet may tip when loaded. The base alone is often not sufficient, as it is not directly screwed to the cabinet frame but only supports it. Therefore, wall mounting is essential for safety.

The actual stability of the furniture is ensured by attaching it to the wall. Therefore, it is essential to fix the carcass to the wall using special brackets or screws.
The base itself is typically not fixed directly to the wall or floor. It is positioned so that it distributes the weight of the carcass evenly and provides a neat finish. For uneven floors, small wooden shims can be placed under the base to prevent wobbling.
If the floor is very uneven or the cabinet is unstable, using floor-protecting, non-slip strips or felt pads in the base area can also help.
In summary: place the base on the floor, secure the cabinet to the wall, and compensate for any unevenness with shims. This ensures everything remains safe and stable.

whether the baseboard should definitely be attached to the wallI would clearly distinguish here between the baseboard as a component and the safety fastening of the entire wardrobe. The baseboard is more of an aesthetic addition and does not play a structural role in safety.

The baseboard itself is usually not fixed directly to the wall or floor. That’s the point: The actual securing is done through the wall mounting of the cabinet frame. The baseboard installation is secondary and should not be equated with safety.
Therefore: If someone wants to fix only the baseboard to achieve stability, that is the wrong approach. The wall mounting of the entire PAX wardrobe is crucial. Whether the baseboard is loosely placed or permanently attached does not affect safety.
I therefore recommend clearly distinguishing between these when assessing the “correct fastening,” otherwise there can be misunderstandings or incorrect safety assumptions later on.
