Hello everyone,

I am currently considering whether there are any smart gadgets that can genuinely enhance the IKEA Platsa system. Since PLATSA is mainly valued for its flexibility and modularity, I am wondering which smart extensions or accessories could be meaningfully integrated to use the storage space more efficiently or to make handling easier.

I am particularly interested in suggestions that go beyond simple lighting – for example, sensors, intelligent organization systems, or smart controls that fit well within the PLATSA concept. It would also be important to know how realistic the installation of such gadgets is without damaging the furniture or losing its flexibility.

Has anyone already had experience or ideas? I would really appreciate your assessments and tips!

Hey, very interesting question! 😊 I think LED lights with motion sensors are a great addition for PLATSA. They help you quickly find what you’re looking for, even in darker corners.

I’ve also had great experience with smart speakers placed in built-in compartments – it’s really cool to combine storage space and entertainment smartly! 😎

And don’t forget about smart power strips that you can control via an app – this way, you can easily switch multiple devices on and off without dealing with messy cables.

Think about what exactly you want to control, and you’ll surely find something suitable. Don’t get discouraged; these gadgets are quite practical!

Hello anzar45,

I’d like to give you a brief overview of how to enhance PLATSA with smart gadgets without losing flexibility:

- Motion sensor LED strips: Easy to install, they automatically turn on the light when a door panel is opened.
- Magnetic sensors: You can attach these to doors to detect whether they are open or closed – perfect for smart notifications.
- Smart organizers: Some smart boxes can measure weight (e.g., for certain food items or tools), helping you keep track of contents.

For installation, I recommend using adhesive and magnetic mounts to avoid drilling holes into the wood. If you plan to power any devices, make sure to carefully consider how cables can be discreetly routed, for example, within the hollow spaces behind the shelves.

If you like, I can also recommend some products that have proven popular with PLATSA users.

I find that to be a somewhat superficial view. Of course, lighting makes sense, but what about smart organization?

So far, there are hardly any market-ready systems that truly integrate well with PLATSA—apart from DIY solutions. Every smart gadget must preserve the modularity; otherwise, the core benefit of PLATSA is lost.

There is also the question of data and power supply. Should we really rely on smart networking without compromising the simplicity and sustainability of the furniture?

I would be interested to hear how anyone has successfully implemented smart gadgets in a truly sustainable way, without it turning into a makeshift setup.

To add to the previous contributions, I would like to point out the following:

- Smart gadgets for the PLATSA system primarily exist in the areas of lighting (LED strips with motion sensors) and sensing (door/window sensors).
- Intelligent organization or storage sensors are currently not specifically optimized for PLATSA on the market. DIY solutions are possible but come with limitations regarding integration and aesthetics.
- Electrical power supply is a crucial factor. Battery-operated devices are advantageous since cable installation can be complicated.
- The modularity of PLATSA must be preserved when using smart devices. This significantly limits the range of options.

My conclusion: For a practical smart extension of the PLATSA system, battery-powered LED lighting and sensor systems are most suitable. More advanced integration of smart technology either requires compromises on modularity or complex modifications.

If specific product names or experiences are desired, I am happy to share them.
