Hello everyone,
My fiancée and I would like to build a house as soon as possible. Here are our requirements and what we have to offer:

My fiancée and I would like to build a house as soon as possible. Here are our requirements and what we have to offer:
- We already own a roughly 800 m² (8600 sq ft) completely flat plot of land (not yet connected to utilities)
- Equity expected to be around 120K (The house we currently live in belongs to my father and is planned to be sold – I will receive one third of the sale)
- 140 m² (1507 sq ft) of living space plus a usable basement
- A hipped roof
- Photovoltaic system plus battery storage, if possible
- A total budget of 600K (garden can be developed later)
- Two parking spaces in front of the house
Do you think this is feasible at the moment?
And about the garden. The idea of "we’ll do it later" is an illusion. You live there for three weeks, and then your wife will already start complaining about the gravel driveway and when the terrace will finally be done, and so on. If you want to do it yourselves, budget money for it. If you want to hire someone, have it done as soon as possible... It really depends on your mindset. We moved in when there wasn’t even a staircase to the upstairs yet. We lived in the ground floor for a year and finished the upper floor during that time. After one year, we completed the exterior plaster, in the second year we paved the driveway and the path to the house, and in the third year, we built the terrace and worked on part of the garden.
It’s all doable, and as “the wife,” I didn’t find it a problem.

Why don’t you stay in your father’s house? Is it too small?
You are probably three siblings? Take out a loan and then pay off the other two siblings.

Jonirupp006 May 2026 21:30Unfortunately, we want to move out as soon as possible since my brother and I are currently living in the house. Unfortunately, there is now quite a serious conflict, and my father would prefer to sell the house.
The house is also in a very poor location and is quite old.
My fiancée inherited the property. This alone has a value of about 350,000 euros (approx. 370,000 USD).

Family disputes are always unpleasant, but rushing into a decision with poor terms and mediocre planning—especially when you plan to live with it for the next 50 years—really doesn’t make any sense.

Your intention stands against

The house is also in a really bad location and is very old. a straightforward sale of a rented house, which likely has little residual value, and a plot in a “really bad location.”

My father would prefer to sell the house. And there is a difference or barrier between selling and wanting to sell.
All of this is still quite uncertain, except for your fiancée’s plot of land, and could mean years of waiting.
