Hello everyone,

I would like to start a discussion on the topic "What are the experiences with Ikea Brimnes drawers?" Specifically, I am interested in how these dressers perform in everyday use, especially regarding their stability, the smoothness of the drawer operation, and the material quality after extended use. It would also be helpful to know how easy the assembly really is, as I often worry most about complicated installations when buying furniture. Your insights on load capacity and surface maintenance would also be great, so I can assess whether the product is suitable for long-term use in a household with occasional heavy use. Thanks in advance for your detailed reports and tips!

Hello Erenpi,

I have been using the Ikea BRIMNES chest of drawers for about two years now, mainly in the bedroom for clothes and smaller items. In terms of stability, I can say that the construction is surprisingly solid for the price – the panels are a bit thinner but well finished. The drawers slide relatively smoothly, thanks to the metal runners, which have not become noticeably stiff even after extended use.

In my opinion, the assembly is quite manageable; the instructions are clearly structured, but you should still allow at least one hour and ideally work with two people to avoid mistakes. The screws and connectors are all included and of decent quality.

For maintenance: I clean the surfaces with a damp cloth and mild dish soap, which works well. Scratches are minimal, but I would avoid placing heavy or sharp objects directly on the surfaces to prevent visible damage. Overall, it’s a reasonable choice for the price if you don’t expect high-end solid wood quality.

Hey Erenpi and everyone,

I really like my BRIMNES drawers because they are very practical and offer a lot of storage space in a small footprint. 😄 Sure, the look is quite simple, but that’s exactly what makes them so versatile. Regarding smooth operation: nothing squeaks for me, and the drawers slide very smoothly, which makes daily use very pleasant. I didn’t have major issues with assembly, even though I took it easy and paused for a coffee break in between. 😉

What I find cool and maybe interesting for you: according to the instructions, the dresser can be enhanced without any loss by adding small extras, like storage boxes or even lighting that you can just clip in—a nice little extra I only discovered after buying it.

I agree, the runners are definitely a plus.

All in all: For the price and purpose, a relaxed choice if you’re not after designer furniture but something solid that lasts long and works well. Good luck with your decision! 🌟

Hello everyone,

I would like to contribute here as I have been using the BRIMNES dresser for about 3 years and can share my experience from the perspective of everyday use.

First about assembly and craftsmanship: For someone who has built furniture before, BRIMNES is quite manageable—the instructions are clear, although sometimes a bit rushed. I recommend unpacking and sorting all parts carefully before assembly. This can help avoid frustration later on.

The choice of materials is typical IKEA: MDF panels, which are not solid wood but well joined. This means the drawers are sturdy for normal household use but should not be used as a work surface or subjected to heavy loads over 15–20 kg (33–44 lbs).

wie sich diese Kommoden im Alltag bewähren, insbesondere hinsichtlich ihrer Stabilität

I use the drawers daily, mostly for clothes and household items. The drawers run smoothly, and the metal runners completely prevent them from falling out, which I find very secure. There is also a small soft-close feature that makes closing quieter.

One possibly important note: The white surface on mine tends to show small scratches easily, which are hard to remove—I recommend handling pointed or hard objects with care when pulling out the drawers. Cleaning with a damp cloth and mild detergent is sufficient.

Personally, I consider the BRIMNES a budget-friendly solution with good functionality but without a lasting premium feel. For the price, it’s definitely recommendable as long as you respect the weight limits and take care of it. If durability under frequent heavy use is a priority, you might want to consider solid wood options instead.

I hope this helps with your decision!
