Hello everyone, I have kitchen units with IKEA Metod kitchen fronts that unfortunately have some stubborn stains which I cannot simply wipe off. My specific question is: What is the best way to remove stains from IKEA Metod kitchen fronts without damaging the coating or surface? Are there any proven home remedies or special cleaning products that are effective but gentle on the fronts? I have already tried mild all-purpose cleaner, but some stains remain. I look forward to practical tips that are both gentle and effective.

In general, IKEA Metod kitchen fronts usually have a melamine-coated surface, which is quite resistant to common household cleaners. For stain removal, it is recommended to:

- First use a soft, lint-free cloth with warm water and a small amount of dish soap.
- For stubborn stains, you can use a mild all-purpose cleaner spray that is non-abrasive.
- Avoid aggressive solvents such as acetone, bleach, or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the surface.
- Always test first on an inconspicuous area.

If the stains are oily residues, a little isopropanol on a cloth can help, but be careful not to rub too frequently or too hard.

Try using a vinegar-water mixture (1:1). It removes many stains and is gentle on the surface.

I would add: If vinegar seems too strong, use diluted lemon juice instead. It is also mildly acidic and can remove stains, especially from water or lime deposits, without causing damage. Important: Always wipe with clear water afterward and dry thoroughly to remove any acid residues.

I will definitely do that, thanks for the advice. Just to clarify: are melamine-coated surfaces generally sensitive to abrasive materials? Are there official care instructions from IKEA for the Metod kitchen fronts? I want to avoid any risk, as the matte finish on my fronts seems somewhat delicate.

IKEA generally recommends cleaning Metod fronts with a soft cloth and a mild cleaning agent. Abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals should be avoided according to the manufacturer, as they can cause irreversible damage to the surface. Traces of grease or dried stains should be removed as soon as possible to prevent penetration into the surface.

For matte fronts, it is especially advisable to avoid applying strong pressure during cleaning to prevent glossy spots.
