Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I got Ikea Metod kitchen fronts made of melamine. Now I want to clean them gently yet effectively, without damaging the surface or affecting their appearance. My question is: What cleaning agents and methods are best suited to remove stains, greasy residues, and everyday dirt from melamine-coated fronts? It is especially important for me to find a method that is not only effective but also preserves the long-lasting quality of the fronts.

I have already read that aggressive cleaning products can be problematic and that abrasive cleaners should be avoided entirely, but what about household remedies or specialized products? Who can share their experiences or tips here? Thank you in advance!

For cleaning IKEA Metod fronts made of melamine, I recommend the following:

- Use only mild cleaning agents such as pH-neutral dish soap or specialized furniture cleaners for plastic surfaces.
- Avoid scouring pads or abrasive cleaning cloths, as they can scratch the melamine surface.
- A soft microfiber cloth is ideal for gently removing dirt.
- For stubborn greasy residues, a solution of water and a small amount of vinegar (in a 10:1 ratio) can help loosen them, but test this mixture first on a hidden area.
- After cleaning, wipe the surface with a dry cloth to prevent water spots.

Aggressive cleaners containing solvents or harsh chemicals are not suitable, as they can damage the surface seal. Following this method keeps the front clean and helps maintain its durability.

Use mild dish soap with warm water and wipe with a soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, you can add a splash of vinegar to the water. Do not use abrasive sponges, as they can cause scratches.

Exactly, I can only confirm that! And most importantly: always make sure not to apply too much pressure! These melamine fronts are cleverly designed to stay looking great for a long time, but they can be easily damaged by harsh cleaning methods.

I have also found that it’s easy to miss small scratches if you clean too quickly. That’s why it’s better to invest a bit more time and clean gently with clear cleaning agents and soft cloths. The result is definitely worth it! Keep it up, and your kitchen will stay fresh and like new!
