I am currently planning to install my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets on a concrete wall and am looking for reliable methods to ensure a safe and lasting mounting. My concrete wall is solid, but I am unsure which anchors and screws are best suited, considering the weight of the cabinets should not be underestimated. I am also interested in the best approach to avoid cracks in the concrete while achieving sufficient load-bearing capacity. Has anyone had experience fixing Metod kitchen cabinets to concrete walls and can provide specific product or technique recommendations? It would also be helpful if someone could explain the differences in load capacity between various types of anchors. Thank you in advance!
In addition to the previous tips: It is important to position the anchors correctly to distribute loads effectively. For Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets, which tend to be narrow and tall, it is recommended to always fix the cabinets at load-bearing points – usually directly on the side panels or on the mounted metal profiles of the kitchen base. Avoid placing all anchors in a single vertical line to reduce stress on the concrete.

Avoid placing all anchors in a straight line directly below each other to reduce stress in the concrete. I wasn’t aware of that, thank you. I will distribute the fixing points more randomly to avoid point loads. Has anyone had practical experience combining the Ikea Metod metal rail with concrete screws? Does it work well with the usual types of anchors? How useful is it to install this rail as a mounting aid on the wall?E

Has anyone had practical experience with combining the Ikea Metod metal mounting rail and screws for concrete? The metal rail simplifies installation and provides a clear reference level for the cabinets. You should fasten the rail to the concrete using heavy-duty anchors, preferably not plastic anchors. Use screws at least 6x60 mm (¼x2 ⅜ inches), matching the anchor requirements according to the manufacturer’s specifications. This ensures optimal load distribution. Additionally, secure screws not only through the rail but also into the cabinet sides for the upper cabinets to minimize tipping forces.

How useful is it to attach this rail as an assembly aid to the wall? Very useful. The rail helps ensure that the front edges of the Metod cabinets are aligned flush and simplifies the load distribution on the wall.Similar topics
