Hello everyone, I am about to move and own an IKEA Platsa system that I want to disassemble and transport afterwards. So far, I haven’t found any instructions explaining the easiest way to take the furniture apart without causing damage.
My question is: How can I disassemble the IKEA PLATSA system smoothly after the move? Are there any proven methods or special tips that make taking it apart easier and ensure no screws get lost or parts damaged?
I would appreciate detailed advice, especially regarding tools or accessories, as I want to handle the furniture as carefully as possible.

Then take out the shelves to protect the edges from scratches. It’s important to keep the screws in a small container or even a simple, labeled bag. This way, there’s less guesswork when reassembling later. And a little tip: a cordless screwdriver with reversible torque makes loosening the screws much easier and also helps ensure you don’t overtighten or damage anything. In the end, just keep everything well organized and stay calm – this way, the move from disassembly can turn into an adventure with a happy ending! 😉

In addition, it is helpful to take photos of the assembled PLATSA system beforehand – especially of complicated areas or screw positions. This provides a visual reference for reassembly later. Also, it is essential to take inventory of the included hardware and sort it if necessary to avoid any losses. For the disassembly, a set of hex keys (Allen wrenches) in various sizes is recommended, as PLATSA often uses different types of screws.

I would rather recommend documenting every step in writing with notes about which screws go where. Especially with PLATSA, the variety of modules can quickly lead to confusion.
Also, is it really practical to collect screws only in bags? I would suggest using small, labeled boxes to avoid having to search again when unpacking. Disassembly is only half the work – reassembly should not be underestimated.
