ᐅ KALLAX Doors and IKEA Warranty – Has Anyone Experienced a Replacement?

rorobertHello everyone, I have a question about the KALLAX doors from IKEA and their warranty: Has anyone had experience with how IKEA handles the replacement of doors if they have a manufacturing defect or transport damage? Specifically, I’m interested in how straightforward or complicated the process is, whether IKEA simply replaces the doors, if returning them is difficult, or if you might end up covering the costs yourself. It would also be helpful to know how long the warranty on KALLAX doors lasts, and if the terms differ in any way from other IKEA products. Thanks in advance for your insights!
Hello @rorobert, a few months ago I had a broken KALLAX door hinge that came loose during delivery.
I actually found the procedure very customer-friendly. I contacted IKEA directly, and after a brief email exchange, they sent me a replacement door free of charge without requiring me to return the defective part.
As far as I know, IKEA offers a 10-year warranty, but this mostly covers defects that are not caused by normal use. I hope this helps you for now. 🙂

I find it interesting that the topic of warranty is generally set at 10 years. In my experience, the duration is fixed, but enforcement at IKEA can vary significantly depending on the specific store and customer service representative.
Where exactly did you arrange this? Through online contact or at a store?
It would be helpful if rorobert could add whether in his case the damage occurred during transport or if there were signs of wear and tear. This makes a big difference for warranty processing.

Thank you in advance for your feedback. @Linavin, the damage is most likely a manufacturing defect. I unpacked the doors and noticed immediately during alignment that one hinge was loose and poorly connected, basically faulty from the factory. I can rule out any transport damage.
@Layla, it’s very helpful that you didn’t have to return anything. Was this handled by customer service over the phone or by email? And how long did the process take from reporting the issue to receiving the replacement door?
I want to avoid any prolonged disruption to the use as much as possible.

For additional information: IKEA offers a 10-year warranty on their KALLAX series, which also includes the doors. The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects but does not cover damage caused by improper use or normal wear and tear.
In the event of a warranty claim, it is recommended to provide photographic or written evidence of the defect.
The replacement process typically involves IKEA sending a replacement after inspection. Returning the defective door may sometimes be waived, but this depends on the specific IKEA location.
Customers should not expect to cover costs for defective doors under the warranty.
