Hello everyone, I recently assembled several IKEA Brimnes furniture pieces, especially dressers and wardrobes. After putting them together, my family and I noticed that some parts wobble quite a bit when touched or under light pressure, which doesn’t feel very stable.

My question is: What practical techniques, tools, or additions can be used to prevent IKEA Brimnes furniture from wobbling? I’m particularly thinking about properly tightening the screws, possible additional stabilization methods, or useful tips to keep in mind during assembly. Are there any known weak points in the design to watch out for?

I would really appreciate any helpful advice.

The most important thing is to tighten all screws and anchors securely according to the instructions, but without overtightening. Additionally, it is best to fix the furniture to the wall, as this provides a great deal of stability.

I can confirm and add to this: The wobbling usually comes from connectors that are not properly fitted or missing wall anchors. It is also advisable to place the furniture on a level surface and, if available, adjust the gliders. Additionally, it can sometimes help to reinforce certain joints with wood glue, if the construction allows.

Hello nemin, I understand your concern very well. Many BRIMNES pieces of furniture are affordable with simple construction, so minor stability issues are not uncommon. To avoid wobbling, you should follow the assembly instructions very precisely, especially when attaching the back panel. The back panel provides significant lateral stability to the furniture structure. Make sure it is completely flat and that all nails or screws are properly secured. Additionally, it helps to fix the furniture to the wall using the provided brackets to prevent movement. If you have already followed the instructions very carefully and it still wobbles, check whether all components are perfectly straight, as some batches may have slight deformations. Another option is to place felt pads or small wedges under the furniture if the floor is uneven, since an uneven surface can increase wobbling. If you have questions about specific fasteners, feel free to ask again with detailed queries.

Sometimes it also helps to loosen the screws again and then tighten them firmly with a bit more pressure. Rubber pads under the feet often work wonders as well.

In my experience, metal brackets used for wall mounting often provide a lot of stability. So don’t skip them, even if you place the furniture in the middle of the room.
