Hi! I replaced the handles on my Hemnes dressers, which really improves the look and only takes about 10 minutes. I also lined the insides with wallpaper to add some color.

I attached small LED strips under the shelves of my Hemnes units – they create a really cozy light, especially in the evenings. And all that without much drilling! 😊

I also painted the back panel with chalkboard paint, so I can scribble notes or to-dos on it – fun and functional at the same time.

I recommend sanding the Hemnes furniture and then painting it with chalk paint. This creates a shabby chic look while also protecting the surface. Afterwards, apply a matte clear coat to increase durability.

To customize the Hemnes series, I recommend the concept of modular additions, such as attaching extensions with extra drawers or shelves. It is important to observe the structural load limits to ensure stability is not compromised. For finishing the surfaces, matte wood paints are suitable, as they are resistant to scratches.

I covered the cabinet doors with mirror film – it’s easy to do and visually enlarges the space significantly. Additionally, it helps to bring a bit more light into dark corners.
