hugobeHello everyone,
I am currently planning a new closet system and have been looking closely at the Ikea Platsa series. My specific question is: Are there Platsa models with soft-close drawers, or is this feature generally not available for Platsa?
It is important for me to know whether Ikea offers retrofit solutions for this or if certain versions of this series come with soft-close drawers, possibly as an optional feature or accessory.
I have done some research, but the information is quite conflicting and often very general. Therefore, I would really appreciate clear guidance or firsthand experiences from you regarding the Platsa series—ideally with details on availability, installation, or practicality.
Thanks in advance!

I can enthusiastically tell you that soft-close drawers are not officially included as a standard feature in Platsa, nor are they directly advertised as available products.
But no worries! You can easily retrofit soft-close drawer systems, for example with soft-close rails from third-party suppliers or compatible IKEA drawer systems that can be adapted to Platsa units.
I have done this myself, and it works really well – much quieter and more refined to use! So: Not directly from IKEA, but definitely doable! 🙂

You can retrofit them with soft-close fittings, which IKEA does not offer.
Other IKEA series come standard with soft-close, but not Platsa.

The Platsa series uses standard drawer runners that do not include damping or soft-close technology.
For retrofitting, I recommend using external soft-close fittings, as Ikea does not offer original soft-close options for Platsa.
It is important to precisely adjust the soft-close mechanism, since Platsa uses a unique system and not all common fittings will fit without modifications.
Alternatively, other Ikea series like Metod or Pax come with soft-close fittings as standard on some drawer models.

You do have to put in some effort and take precise measurements, but the result is worth it – smooth closing, no more noise.
The downside: IKEA doesn’t officially offer this, so you really need a small “upgrade kit.”
But hey, who wants noisy cabinets when it can be nicely quiet, right? 😉

IKEA designed Platsa as an affordable and modular system focusing on straightforward functionality. Soft-close is included as a comfort feature in other ranges, which is reflected in the price.
Those who want Platsa with soft-close should consider whether the effort involved in retrofitting and potential compatibility issues is truly efficient, or if it would be better to purchase a series that already includes soft-close.
Investing in third-party products can be both time-consuming and cost-inefficient, especially when considering durability and warranty.
