Hello everyone, I am currently planning my kitchen layout and considering using the Ikea Besta system for it. My question is: What is the best way to use Ikea Besta in the kitchen so that it is both functional and visually appealing? I am particularly interested in how to combine the different modules effectively, what customizations are possible, and how it integrates with typical kitchen appliances and countertops. Are there any tips to keep in mind during installation, for example regarding load capacity, storage optimization, and making the best use of depth? I would appreciate any experiences and recommendations that could help me use the Besta system as an alternative kitchen solution in a truly effective way.
The Besta back panels are acceptable if you want stability, but it is better to have additional wall mounting and, if necessary, a custom-made back panel. For the countertop, a secure connection using screws or specially long dowels is recommended. This ensures everything stays firmly in place.

One more question regarding maintenance: How does the Besta system perform in the kitchen when it comes to moisture and cleaning? Do you use special protective coatings or do you prefer matte or glossy fronts? From your experience, which is more durable, especially with frequent use in damp areas?
The surface of Besta fronts varies. Smooth and laminated surfaces are easier to clean and more resistant to moisture than untreated wood fronts. For kitchens, it is advisable to choose fronts with melamine or acrylic coating. Additionally, good ventilation is recommended to prevent moisture buildup inside the cabinets. For heavy use, matte fronts are less prone to fingerprints but are more difficult to clean. Protective coatings or additional sealants are generally not necessary, as long as the materials remain installed in their original condition.
