My doors are equipped with heavy interior fittings, and the rollers I have been using so far cause noticeable resistance when sliding, which worsens over time. For heavily loaded sliding doors, it is indeed advisable to choose rollers with high-quality ball bearings, as these significantly reduce friction and thus make the door easier to move. Nylon coverings over a steel core are a common combination because the nylon runs quietly and the steel core provides the necessary stability.
It is also important to consider the load capacity not only for a single roller but the distribution of weight across all rollers. Each roller set should have a load capacity of at least 100–120 kg (220–265 lbs) if the door is very heavily loaded.
Regular cleaning and lubrication of the ball bearings extend their service life. If possible, you should also look for impact-resistant rollers, which, besides load capacity, better absorb shocks.
