Hello everyone,

I’m looking for ideas on how to better organize my Ikea Metod kitchen setup. Specifically, I want to figure out how to arrange and structure the existing drawers, pull-outs, and compartments to make usage more convenient and improve visibility when cooking and storing items. At the moment, I feel there is still a lot of potential in the internal layout, especially regarding drawers for cutlery, pantry items, and cooking utensils. Does anyone have experience with smart, systematic planning of Metod cabinets—from simple use of dividers to specialized boxes or organizational tools? I’m looking forward to your ideas and tried-and-tested tips!

I can relate to that so well! At first, I also just thought I simply had storage space – but in the end, organization makes all the difference. I started with wooden cutlery tray inserts because plastic ones scratch easily. For pantry items, I use clear boxes with labels, so I can immediately see what’s inside. I also find it important to organize areas by function: knives and cooking utensils close to the stove, spices separate. Depending on how much storage space you have, a mix of drawers with dividers and large pull-outs with stackable boxes works well for me. It takes some courage not to just see existing storage as a place to put things, but rather as a flexible system – and yes, I also had doubts at the beginning about what made sense. Try improving small sections step by step instead of remodeling everything at once.

Best solution: Use drawer inserts for cutlery and small utensils, and stackable boxes for supplies.
You can equip the Metod doors with hooks and magnetic strips, saving space and improving organization.
Cookware is best stored in the lower drawers, as it is the most convenient.

For better organization of Ikea Metod kitchen installations, I recommend the following structured approach:

- Analyze individual cooking and storage habits as a basis for the layout
- Use modular drawer inserts specifically designed for the Metod range to ensure optimal use of space
- Utilize transparent and stackable boxes with clear labeling for quick identification of supplies
- Systematically group kitchen utensils by function and frequency of use (e.g., spices near the stove, cutting boards in drawers with cutlery)
- Consider ergonomic aspects, such as placing frequently used items at eye level or within mid-level zones

These criteria ensure smoother workflow in the kitchen and maximize storage efficiency.

I think that’s really important! I’d like to add: feel free to experiment with different inserts and systems until you find the perfect setup for you. I love it when everything is organized and I can quickly find what I need while cooking. It’s simply great when you can make everyday life easier like that! Give it a try, you can do it! 💪

I can relate to Taulars on how challenging it can be to organize the Metod kitchen in a truly practical way. You invest a lot of time and effort in the installation, and on top of that, it all needs to be functional.

That’s very good advice! I have also noticed that making small adjustments in one area can bring significant improvements. It’s also important not to put too much pressure on yourself. It can be a process that takes several weeks before everything fits perfectly. If you ask friends or family to briefly test the usability, you often get additional valuable feedback.
