Hello everyone, I am currently studying the various IKEA Hemnes models more closely and am looking for concrete differences that go beyond just the appearance.

I am particularly interested in whether there are differences in the Hemnes dressers and cabinets regarding dimensions, material quality, craftsmanship, or functionality.

Are there versions that, for example, are built more sturdily, offer more storage space, or have different expansion options depending on the model? Or are the differences mainly purely aesthetic, such as in color tone or handle design?

I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences or alternative knowledge about the different Hemnes furniture pieces—whether dressers, nightstands, or tall cabinets. Maybe someone has already compared them or has a favorite based on certain features.

Thank you in advance!

The Hemnes series is consistent in design and material throughout. The differences lie in the dimensions and the number of drawers or doors.

Some models also include shelves or different interior layouts, but the material is always pine wood with a painted finish.

That is largely true, but I would like to add that the differences between the Hemnes furniture pieces are somewhat more extensive when you look closer.

- The dimensions vary significantly depending on the model, which of course affects the storage capacity – for example, the Hemnes 8-drawer chest is considerably larger than the 3-drawer version.
- There are also differences in the interior layout: some dressers include drawer organizers or dividers.
- The color options are usually white, black-brown, and sometimes accents in gray or blue, which can also change the look of the surface.
- For the wardrobes, there are differences in the doors: some have glass doors, others are solid wood.
- In terms of craftsmanship, everything is solid, but due to the size and type of wood, there are slight differences in stability.

If you want to optimize storage space, it makes sense to pay attention to the interior organization as well, not just the external dimensions.

Absolutely! I would also add that the different Hemnes models vary in suitability depending on their intended use.

A Hemnes nightstand is much more compact than a dresser, obviously, but that doesn’t just mean a different size; it also involves different functions (for example, easy access to small items next to the bed).

For a living room or hallway, a wider cabinet is usually more appropriate, with options for different colors and handles, allowing you to play a bit with style.

So these differences are definitely important, especially if you’re focusing on practical use—not just the stylish appearance. That’s how a Hemnes piece becomes truly versatile. 😉
