JUONNAUHello everyone, I’m planning to assemble an Ikea Platsa cabinet soon and want to make the process as smooth as possible. I’m especially interested in which small tools or aids you use to make the assembly easier—whether for securing parts, handling individual modules, or achieving the best alignment.
Maybe you have practical tips or “secret weapons” that aren’t typically associated with assembling Ikea furniture but definitely make a difference. Recommendations for tools that make the process more ergonomic or save time are also welcome.

Which small helpers make assembling the Ikea PLATSA easier?
A few tips from my experience:
- Cordless screwdriver with torque control: prevents over-tightening
- Screw magnet: saves time by making it easier to pick up screws
- Edge protectors or foam to protect components when setting them down
- Clamps to hold parts together while screwing
It is important to always align the parts carefully during assembly, otherwise they won’t fit later. A good tape measure or meter stick for checking dimensions is also useful.

The PLATSA series is practical, but some of the parts can be somewhat bulky. I find the following tools especially helpful:
- A sturdy work surface or a large carpet to protect the surfaces
- A small rubber mallet for gently adjusting connections
- A square or a small carpenter’s square to ensure the parts fit together at right angles
If you have to assemble it alone, a clamp is invaluable for holding boards together temporarily.
