Hello everyone,

I recently chose the IKEA Metod cabinet system for my kitchen and am now facing the challenge of organizing the assembly as efficiently as possible. My question is whether there are any special assembly kits or tools that support quick DIY installation of the Metod system?

I’m not just referring to standard tools but possibly sets with specially designed drill bits, screwdriver attachments, or assembly aids that could significantly speed up and simplify the installation process.

Who has experience with this or can provide specific recommendations on which aids really make the assembly easier, so I don’t waste too much time or get frustrated with complicated installation?

Thanks in advance for your help!

There are no official assembly kits from IKEA specifically for Metod, but many people use standard cordless drills with compatible bits.

A good socket wrench for the joint screws and Phillips head bits is essential.

I can clarify this a bit: IKEA does not offer any special kits specifically for assembling Metod units; rather, the standard components and screws are designed to be used with common tools.

It is advisable to have a drill or cordless screwdriver with variable speed and different bits (PH2, hex key). Most connections use Phillips and hex screws.

A helpful tip is to always keep a small assembly kit on hand during installation – this should include a small spirit level, screwdrivers with various heads, and possibly a rubber mallet in case parts need to be aligned.

There are no special "Metod kits," but with a good selection of tools, the modules can be assembled quickly and accurately.

Hello!

The question about special assembly kits is very practical. Since the Metod system was designed for self-assembly, it is modular and does not require any special tools. However, I know a few handy DIY tools that can make the assembly easier for you:

- Cordless drill with a suitable bit set, ideally including Phillips and hex (Allen) bits
- Installation aid for dowels and screws to ensure precise placement and easier screwing
- Screwdriver with a magnetic tip, which helps hold and insert screws, especially in tight spaces
- Small clamps to hold parts together during screwing

These tools are not IKEA products but are very useful.

I would also recommend laying out all components and fittings in advance and reading the instructions carefully to better understand the process. If you have any questions about the exact procedure, just ask!

I assembled Metod just a few months ago. I simply used a cordless drill with the appropriate bits, a small hammer, and a square for precise alignment.

I didn’t use any extra sets or similar accessories and didn’t feel the need for them.

Thank you for your helpful tips; the idea of magnetic screwdrivers and clamps makes sense. Securing components can sometimes be a real test of patience.

Could someone share how much time can be saved when using these kinds of tools?

Also, are there any experiences regarding whether some cordless drill models are better suited than others, for example,

I want to avoid unnecessary trial and error.
